some of whom have walked the very same path as you
Jacqueline Bennett ~ Victoria, BC
Hello HRM beauties and welcome to the 2021 Autumn Journey!!!
My name is Jacqui Bennett and this will be my 13th journey and my second as Ambassador. I am beyond excited and very honoured to be one of your Ambassador’s for this journey. A little bit about me, I am married to a wonderful husband who was my teenage sweetheart and we have an 11 year old son James and a three year old dog Bella. I am an Emergency Dispatch Coordinator for Fortis BC (LOVE my job) and work full time. We live in Victoria BC and one of our favourite past times is boating on our 34’ catamaran. During the summer months you will find us exploring the Gulf Islands as much as we can enjoying hiking, kayaking and taking many long walks.
I joined HRM back in the Fall of 2015 when I was at my heaviest weight and not very happy in life. I had been fairly active in previous years doing mainly bootcamps or gym workouts but I never fully committed to anything. When I first heard about this group I honestly thought, “How much could an on-line fitness group truly help me?” I was admittedly skeptical but shortly after joining I could see how special this group truly was. I discovered one of the main things missing for me before…Connection! This is one of the most unique things about HRM, connection. It is what brings the magic. I had no idea that a group of on-line women could keep you motivated and be so supportive. So different from anything I had done and I have been hooked ever since. By being so connected to the group and learning all that I can, I feel more empowered and confident than I ever have before. HRM isn’t just about exercise, it is SO much more. It is a journey of learning how to live a healthier life, a journey of mental wellness and learning to love yourself and every imperfect part of you! I have suffered from anxiety for years and used to have to take medication to keep it at bay. It was after starting this program that I was able to stop. Daily movement is my medicine!
Every journey has been a little different for me. I have had journeys where the exercise was my complete focus and others nutrition (my monster!) and I have also been knocked out by injury. Even when I was out I still stuck with the program. I found that I needed that connection to keep my awareness of health and nutrition going. This connection also helped me to learn the phrase “What CAN I do” instead of “I CAN’T do”. This is a life journey and we will always have ups and downs but the most important part is that we keep taking steps forward no matter how big or small.
Each person’s journey is unique and it is so important to remember to not compare yourself’ to others. Some are here for their first journey and some are here for their 12th!! My advice to new comers is to take advantage of all this program has to offer and go into it slowly. It can be overwhelming at the start but the information is so rewarding. Soak it all in. I made a commitment to make my health a priority so that I would be a better person for myself and my family and I am excited and honoured to help you along your journey to achieve your health and wellness goals as I continue towards mine too!!
Jill Hewitt ~ Ladysmith, BC
Ladies! I am so happy that you are here! I am humbled and honored to be chosen as one of your ambassadors for our Autumn 2021 Journey. The positive energy of this community is infectious, and it’s hard not to fall in love with every aspect of HRM.
I live in Ladysmith, BC where we are famous for our cinnamon buns and huge hills! I have two young girls, and know that HRM has already had such a positive impact on their lives. They are my biggest cheerleaders, and I know that they are watching and listening to EVERYTHING that I do. My extremely supportive husband, over the years, has grown to know the perfect balance of encouraging my lifestyle, and when I need balance.
I am a doer, and have a hard time taking a step back to relax. This community has taught me the importance of rest, and that I cannot pour from an empty cup.
This will be my 13th journey, and every journey I learn something new about myself. This community was an integral part of my postpartum journey; two beautiful girls in less than 2 years, the health of my marriage and my overall well-being. I can honestly say that I have met some of the most amazing women through this program, some of which are like family! I cannot picture my life without HRM, and I hope you discover just how magical it is, like so many others have.
I love to experiment in the kitchen, and love creating plant-based meals. I have been a vegetarian for over 12 years, and enjoy sharing recipes and how I food prep for the week. Questions about plant-based cooking? Message me!
I’m an avid runner and hiker in the Cowichan Valley, and love company if you’re ever interested in joining me!
Immerse yourself in the community, have fun, and really trust the process. HRM may just become the family that you never thought you needed (or maybe you did). I really hope that I can inspire and support you through your journey. It is YOUR journey, after all. Remember that.
Rachel Wu ~ Winnipeg, MB
WELCOME to the Autumn 2021 Healthy Role Models Journey! YOU are in the RIGHT place and I am sooooo excited to be here with you.
My name is Rachel Wu. This is my 8th journey with HRM, and I am thrilled to be a returning Ambassador for the 4th time. I took the last 2 journeys to really wanted to focus on some big goals of mine: grow my Physiotherapy practice, reduce my 5km run time, increase my annual mileage for running and learn more about nutrition. All goals I achieved with the help and support of being a part of the HRM Community
I live in Winnipeg, MB with my hubby and 2 daughters, whom I am modeling a healthy lifestyle for. They are my WHYs of why I am here: To talk to my body with love, to fuel my body like the machine it is, to honour what my body is telling me. These are all parts of my health journey and I hope my girls grow up to be STRONG like their momma.
My advice for you is to figure out WHY you are here. If you are here to FEEL your best, LIVE your truth and GROW into who you were meant to be, you want to connect to those feelings regularly! Connect on the group’s page to be inspired by others striving towards the same things as you.
This journey is what you make of it, and I am so happy to be cheering you on along the way.
Laurelle Loe ~ St. Albert, AB
Welcome! My name is Laurelle, and I’m so very excited about what is ahead for us all. This is my eleventh journey with Healthy Role Models and my seventh as an ambassador, and I can assure you that this Healthy Role Model community is a very special place. Whatever your goals or reasons for being here... I am thrilled to cheer you on this Autumn!
I am 37 and my husband and I have been married for 16 years. We have four kids, and we both work full time. Life is full, fun, and seems to be getting a bit crazier each year, but in the best way!
Before I tell you about why I love HRM, I should explain a bit about where I was before joining in the fall of 2016. I had just spent two years struggling against the scale, watching the numbers creep up and feeling my energy and confidence creep down. I never ate breakfast, survived on Diet Coke and coffee, and had those extra large sized bags of chips hidden in my car. I knew I wanted something different but I had no idea how to achieve it.
HRM offered me the tools I needed to make those changes. I have learnt how to make my health a priority, how to reshape negative habits into habits that serve my goals, and how to fuel my body. More than that, HRM offered me community and support - key pieces I didn’t even know I was missing - which have been an amazing blessing in my life. My husband and our kids are all seeing the benefits of these changes. Not only do I have more energy, but we are enjoying being active as a family.
To finish, I want to add that I am still here because this program is about a sustainable, achievable, and positive lifestyle. I have more capacity to tackle obstacles, adapt to uncertainty, and embrace new opportunities. These are skills and lessons that ripple into all areas of wellness and I love being a student! I’m excited to be here alongside all of you this Autumn journey <3
April Allen ~ Campbell River, BC
My name is April, and I am so honoured to have been chosen as an Ambassador for the Autumn 2021 Journey. This will be my 15th journey with Healthy Role Models and my fifth time as an Ambassador. This community has been a huge part of my life for the past 7 years, and I couldn’t imagine not being a part of it. I have transformed physically, but more importantly mentally.
When I found Healthy Role Models back in 2014, I was a new mom and looking for something to kick-start myself back into a healthy lifestyle. I was tired, lacked patience, and in general sad about the way I felt. I am so grateful that what I found in HRM was so much more than just workouts! I found a community full of strong, supportive, empowering women and a place where I felt I belonged. Since that time, I have had a few more big life changes, but throughout it all, HRM has been a consistent piece of my life.
I have a medical condition which causes me lower back pain and stiffness that I deal with to a degree every day. Though I am unable to do some of the things that I used to (high impact exercises), I know that there is always something I CAN do. And that is what I focus on. One of the best things for my condition is to MOVE, so that’s what I do.
I enjoy living an active lifestyle and encouraging others to join me. During this pandemic, we have had to adapt to many changes. One of those is working out virtually with other HRMs. I have learned to embrace new things like working out over Zoom, and I LOVE IT! It has been amazing to still have connections with other women working towards their goals.
Healthy Role Models has helped me in so many ways. It has helped me build strong foundations in many areas – strength, mindset, social connection. My advice for anyone reading this is to lean in, have fun, learn, grow, and embrace challenges. You will come out stronger on the other side. If you’re ready to take your health to the next level, LET’S DO THIS! I’m here cheering you on; don’t hesitate to reach out and let me know how I can help!!
Aaron Lukoni ~ Victoria, BC
Welcome everyone to YOUR BEST JOURNEY!
Why is this this YOUR best journey you ask? Well, because YOU are HERE and whether this is your 1st or 100thjourney, I can’t wait to share the adventure alongside you! It’s also the BEST because we are in it TOGETHER and this 12 weeks of community, commitment and consistency will change your life.
Its so true - we all have multiple balls we juggle every day. Work, life, kids activities, spouses, friends, ummm pandemnic?!?!?! and now it’s time to really set our sights on ourselves and focus our intentions to a place where all that strength comes from – within each of us – and you’ve already taken the biggest step forward by being a part of this journey. YOU are taking this time to be your authentic self, and I’m so very honored you are here.
My backstory…and what you all really want to know…is that really how I spell my name??? The easiest answer is that my *loving* parents wanted a first born son really, really badly. They didn’t get it (obviously) but refused to change the name that they had decided on so here I am, rocking the A-A-RON and making that name stand tall and proud. Outside that name, I OWN my strong as I know so many of you HRM’s do every.single.day! And if you don’t feel it now, you are going to feel it by the end of this journey I promise you!
This will be my 9th journey with HRM and my second as an ambassador (cue applause and high fiving virtually! They like me…they really really like me!!!!) and hello South Island Crew!! But the truth is that I could never be without this community. I can relate to so many of you beautiful woman out there as I’m a mother of three amazing daughters, work full time, just finished my second masters degree, and balance a heavy activity and volunteer schedule. Realistically I never thought that I could find the balance I needed to be the best role model for my daughters and myself with a healthy lifestyle. I know that I need to emulate health, wellness, love for my body and show them how balance can be achieved so they can grow their minds and bodies in the best way possible. They are the my three biggest ‘whys’ and my heart.
Most important (outside the amazing workouts, dance parties, and sticker charts) is that THIS IS THE PLACE where you will find that sense of belonging. A true sisterhood that will lift you up. The place you can find yourself and BE the BEST YOU both mentally and physically. The connections you are going to make in the next few months are going to be with you forever. I’m speaking from the heart and from experience 😊
My superpower? Organizational awesomeness – I can show you how to fit almost any kind of activity in even the most packed busy days – so don’t be shy and reach out. Can’t wait to see you all on the page and help guide and lift you all up over the next few weeks!
There’s nothing YOU can’t do, and I am very excited to see how you all shine over the next few weeks.
Selina Andres ~ Parksville, BC
Hello gorgeous! Welcome to the Autumn Journey 2021!
I'm a mom of two energetic kids (Kira - 8 in September and Rex - 3.5 and wife to the most incredibly supportive and encouraging husband, Dean! This will be my 7th journey with Healthy Role Models and I'm incredibly honoured and excited to be an ambassador for the fourth time! (Where does the time go?!?)
I will be in my office in Nanaimo more this journey but still blending my time between working from home in Parksville a day or two a week. I found Healthy Role Models while on maternity leave with my son and my life changed from that moment.
I spent much of my childhood focused on my physical appearance and had negative conditioning in my brain. I have done every diet and way of eating there is. I have lost and gained weight so many times I lost count, but hadn't found something that I enjoyed and could consistently stick to. I was feeling hopeless, anxious, depressed and detached and had spiraled to a very dark place.
When I found HRM, my husband commented that he saw a spark in me he hadn't seen in a long time... the old me shone through a little. Each journey I've come closer to the lovable, open, outgoing, happy, energetic and unstoppable woman I anticipated I'd be when I was young, but somehow lost sight of along the way. And sometimes, I've learned new ways to cope with the challenges life throws at me.
I'm so much happier with my life now and am in such a great place physically and mentally. I am still a work in progress of course and that's awesome because it means I have more to experience, reach for and learn! I'm excited to continue transforming into the best version of myself alongside all of you!. I feel confident, strong and capable again. I used to let my fear of what others think trap me in a world I didn't enjoy. I love my strong self so much and am more confident now!
My first journey was incredible! I went all in and gave it 110% which was possible because of naps and scheduling around my baby boy. I received the honour of being a finalist for the grand transformation prize and was on top of my game! I met so many new people and really jumped in with both feet to fully immerse myself in this way of life. I went to events and worked hard to get out of my own head and just try! I learned to ask myself "what if?" instead of "what if I fail?".
My second journey I was back to work. With two kids in daycare and school, long work days and a commute I found balancing everything extremely challenging. I used that journey as an experiment for my lifestyle, really honing in on what worked for me. That journey taught me grace and compassion for myself and to do my best no matter what that looked like. I began to run more. Even with my groove being off, I still managed to run my first half marathon and two separate 10k races all within 3 weeks!! I felt unstoppable! I used to say I couldn't run because of my asthma and now I can't imagine a life without it! What challenges you, changes you and I was reaching for ALL the challenges!!
My third journey, I found my groove! My workouts got done on lunch breaks which boosted me for the remainder of the day and into the evening. I really focused on learning to prepare meals each week and the importance of planning my months. I centered my mind on my gratitude journal and focused on my mental and physical health to really thrive. My goals expanded and now I'm hiking various mountains and learning Spin!
In my fourth journey (my first as an ambassador) the pandemic hit. The journey I had planned just didn't go at all like any of us had expected and we had to adapt and shift and pivot every week. I continued to focus on what I could do; journal, meal prep, eat well, move my body daily, practice grace daily and really try to thrive while we were on lockdown. With both my kids at home while working full time from a room in my home, life and my rhythm from the previous journey got thrown for a loop again. The best part though was how much resilience I've built with the help of this community and how I was able to switch gears quickly and find a new groove for the duration of the pandemic. We CAN do hard things.
In my fifth journey (second as ambassador) I was grooving again, with practice comes comfort. I was back to being a consistency queen and found a balance of working out and working from home and ensuring I was providing the best balance in life for myself and the HRM community. I also learned more about the impacts of proper nutrition and started seeing some additional progress. In the posse, life took some turns and thanks to HRM, I have the tools to navigate them while continuing to care for myself and my family. It is possible to face challenges, maintain consistent habits and continue to rise up and greet them.
In my sixth journey (third as an ambassador) I spent a good portion of time navigating a new medical diagnosis for one of my children and have since discovered through a different pediatrician that my other child likely has special needs as well and I'm chasing down more information and help in order for them to thrive.
Every journey you experience a new perspective for that season of your life. Each journey you will learn, focus and grow! If you jump in with both feet, you'll learn how capable you are! HRM makes it easier to manage the ups and downs in life through the community of support and love. I am more consistent with my meals, workouts and movement than I have been in my life and I owe that learned discipline to Sarah and HRM.
Another part of this program I hadn't experienced before is the charity work through Kids International Development Society (KIDS) which helps children and families struggling in a completely different part of the world. This program has changed more than just my life, it's also changed the lives of many children and their families and I'm so humbled to be a small part of that change in this world. The ripple effect of being a healthy role model really does spread into all facets of your life and it's the best kind of contagious.
The community surrounding you here is full of welcoming, supportive, empowering women with goals and dreams just like you. Everyone is at a different stage in their learning and fitness so keep your blinders on and KEEP GOING! Find someone that inspires you and tap into that motivation to propel you forward each day! When you're struggling, reach out to one of the ambassador's and we will help you navigate it. Keep an eye out for Sarah's vlogs as I find they ALWAYS come out at the moment I need to hear them most and I'm sure that might happen for you.
Be open and try! One foot in front of the other, we're here to DO THIS, together!! I am so excited to be here with you for this epic journey and honoured to be one of your ambassadors!
Valentina Bogie ~ Nanaimo, BC
Hello ladies! My name is Valentina Bogie, and this will be my 6th journey and 2nd time as an HRM Ambassador which I am so excited and honored to be a part of the Autumn 2021 Journey.
Married to my number one supported Brian for 13 years and together we have a beautiful 14-year-old daughter Siena who loves to dance. I have been employed by the same company for 30 years, I work hard, I am good at what I do, and I attribute the strong work ethic that I have to the way my parents raised me and I want to model that for my daughter.
I have always been very active. I’ve played high level soccer in my early twenties, but my nutrition was not the greatest and honestly, I did not really understand the importance of fueling my body properly and always have struggled with my weight. Being part of the HRM community has really taught me the importance of balance when it comes to nutrition. When I first joined to me it was about losing the weight, but I now know it’s not about the number on the scale. For me it is about being healthy, happy, accepting my body image and feeling strong and fit.
What I really enjoy about Healthy Role Models there is no judging or competition. It truly is about yourself “running your own race”. There have been days that have not gone to plan for me, but I have learned to pivot and move forward. This is one thing that I have really come to terms with as in the past I would get upset with myself and then make unhealthy choices.
HRM is truly a wonderful inspiring community where we all come together to support and cheer each other on not just virtually but also out in the community.
Marti Oltmann ~ Comox, BC
I am so very excited, and honoured, to have been chosen as a Healthy Role Models ambassador for this journey! This is such a powerful group, full of wonderful women.
My name is Marti, and this is journey number eight for me. I moved to Comox in February of 2020, but have been on Vancouver Island since September of 2013. I work as an RVT at a veterinary hospital in Parksville. Honestly, I love my job.
I also have Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was diagnosed about 20 years ago. Right now, it’s controlled very well. But, if you are a member of the Chronic Condition club, believe me when I say I feel your pain. I am living proof that movement is medicine.
Healthy Role Models has brought me out of my shell. First journey (or two, maybe more), I was far too shy to go to an event. I progressed to going with a friend (also the reason I joined). The day came that she couldn’t attend, so I went on my own. Last journey,I hosted my own event. If I can do it, anyone can! Push that fear aside. You are so welcome to join any and all of them. Just because the majority of activity will be online, doesn’t mean they aren’t fun.
One more thing! I LOVE RUNNING!!! I want everyone to love something as much as I love running. Whether it’s across the street, or an ultramarathon, if you ran it - you my chosen sister, are a runner!
I am so glad you’re here with me. Trust the process. Reach out for help when you need it. You’ve got this. ❤️
Megan Gray Lysne ~ Errington, BC
Hello and Welcome to this incredible life changing community of inspiring ladies! I am so honored to be one of the Autumn 2021 Ambassadors and I'm looking forward to sharing another incredible journey with you all.
My name is Megan and I'm married to my high school sweetheart. Together we have a 13 year old Son and a 5 year old Daughter and I work as a Vet Assistant and Receptionist at a busy clinic. With all the titles life blesses us with it's easy to get lost and caught up in the daily shuffle. This journey will help you learn to put yourself back on the priority list. As the saying goes "You can't pour from an empty cup". You have to look after yourself first in order to have something to give to others.
I started Healthy Role Models in Autumn of 2017. I was at my all time heaviest and my health was suffering for it. A friend had been telling me about HRM and I finally took the plunge and joined the last day of registration which was also my birthday. It has been the BEST gift I've ever given myself. I admit I was the kid in high school that got a "P" in gym class, just barely a Pass. Who knew you could actually get that letter grade! Now I enjoy my workouts, I run for fun and because I can, and have even traveled to Vegas to run in the Rock 'N' Roll 10km. I've hiked mountains and trails that I used to only dream of and the best part is I can play and keep up with my active kiddos.
My advice to you is become the best student you can be. Jump head first and trust the process. You CAN absolutely do this! I'm very excited to cheer you all on and watch you crush your goals!
-Megan aka: Meganator
Donna Schibli ~ Smithers, BC
I am truly honoured to be chosen to be a part of the amazing team of ambassadors. My name is Donna Schibli and this will be my 14th journey. A huge welcome to everyone. I look forward to growing and learning from all of you as we do this journey together.
I am 59 years old and live in northern BC in the small town of Smithers. It may be a small town but we have a mighty group of HRM warriors. I am semi-retired from my career of 40 years as a dental assistant and also own a quilt and yarn shop. I have been married for 35 years to a wonderful, supportive and adventurous man. I have two grown children, both married to their own wonderful partners. I have one precious granddaughter who is now 20 months old and quite a busy little girl.
I love HRM for so many reasons. The connections you make with like-minded women on the same path to improving their health is top on my list. The support, encouragement, and camaraderie are beyond anything I could have imagined. Another of my favourite things about this program is the ability to do all the workouts from home; no gym membership required and that all ages and fitness levels can partake. It is not elitist!!
This program is a journey to a healthier you and the veterans will tell you no two journeys are the same. The gains and losses you make can come in different forms; sometimes physical and other times emotional. But I can assure you with consistency and hard work you will feel much healthier. This is not about outward beauty but inner strength, positivity and good health.
I am thankful for HRM because I have learned to make myself a priority and not feel guilty or selfish for doing so. We all need to look after ourselves so we can better look after others. Love yourself first and the rest will all fall into place.
So, make this journey about you whether it is your first or your tenth. For those here for the first time, please ask questions because there are no stupid questions and also be a good student, read the material, do the homework and take part of the page. You won’t regret it. I look forward to your introductions and learning more about each and every one of you.
Congratulations on taking the first step to a better version of you! Let’s do this ladies
Carol Church ~ Sherwood Park, AB
Hello Beautiful women and welcome to Autumn 2021 Journey! I am so excited and honoured to be chosen as one of your ambassador team, and look forward to the opportunity paying forward my gratitude for this amazing community!
My name is Carol Church (Churchey) on the page, and I happily share my consistency and positivity with you! I am committed to my physical and mental health through the daily habit of movement. And I most especially love seeing, cheering and encouraging the activity and wins of many other like minded women!
I am a 62 year old wife to a very supportive hubby of almost 41 years, who is also my biggest cheerleader; Mom to 2 beautiful young ladies, and Nana to 6 gorgeous grandchildren. I am a recently retired RN with a background in critical care!
I have always led an active lifestyle, participating in many sports, and also enjoying pursuits of hiking, biking, and rock climbing. I really never worried about weight or fitness as it was a huge part of my daily life.... Then cancer struck our lives( hubby),and the realization of continued treatments coupled with aging looming on the horizon drove us to move closer to the city. After 25 + years in the same workplace and community I was suddenly displaced into an unknown and unfamiliar environment of fear and inactivity due to obligations! Coping with ALL the things left no time for me and suddenly I felt lost, unworthy and so alone! On an extra shift at work I happened to overhear a conversation between a couple of co workers ( one of whom I secretly admired) a glowing description of her journey with HRM. Her words sparked an immediate “ I want that kind of happiness back in my life”
Enter HRM... and now beginning my 9th journey I have gained and grown exponentially💖. I have gained a treasured friend and fitness partner, but more importantly I have 100% improved my outlook on life. This community has changed my perspective on what I am capable of. I had allowed myself to be defined and consumed by the illness and fears and limitations of aging and inability to find new friends. I have learned that simple realistic goal setting, consistency, a positive attitude, practicing gratitude, and a lot of grit and grace are some of the tools HRM can provide. These tools have helped restore the feelings of self worth and self confidence. I have healthy new habits that create and sustain physical and mental health. This community is a sustainable lifestyle and each journey can uncover new potential! A community filled with powerful inspiring women who all have a story, but still strive toward being the best they can be! Supportive, encouraging, uplifting, filled with love and compassion!
I have so much admiration and pride in you for choosing to empower yourself and create the best “ you” I am honoured to cheer you on and to be alongside you on this journey!
Paula Flemming ~ Port Alberni, BC
I am excited for the Autumn 2021 journey; journey of change. I have been apart of Healthy Role Models, HRM, since Autumn 2015. This will be my 13th journey and I continue to learn and grow each journey.
I am 47 years old and live in Port Alberni, BC on beautiful Vancouver Island with my husband and biggest supporter. We live an active and healthy lifestyle with working out, hiking, yoga and new to me riding bike. Eating healthy and nutrition meals has become away of life. I don’t deny myself some indulgences but have found my balance. I am in the best shape of my life, stronger, fitter and a healthier mindset.
HRM came to me when needed a boost. I joined HRM as a fitness journey and got so much more. To be surrounded by a community of strong likeminded women has been a powerful boost. The connections formed through HRM are like no other. I have stepped out of my comfort zone, push myself to new limits and become a much happier person.
I look forward to being apart of your magnificent journey.
Toni Monique ~ Campbell River, BC
WELCOME to each and everyone of you AMAZING women and our Autumn 2021 journey! You are taking your step towards wellness and you should be so proud and SO EXCITED!! The investment your about to embark on is like no other you’ll ever experience. This journey will boost your best version of you on more levels than you can imagine!!!
I have been journey-ing with HRM since Autumn 2017! This will be my 7th journey and I don’t foresee every not being a part of this community. I had the honor of being an ambassador back in Autumn 2018 and what an incredible experience to see this community thrive and be part of the team. Now I am back!!
I am so excited to be back as ambassador!
My health, wellness and fitness journey began in my early 20s, over 20 years ago. There were times when I was not committed and frankly didn’t know what I was doing. I quickly became a cardio addict…an hour on machines and cardio gym classes…why not? For years that is all I did. Cardio. Oh yah, and under eat. This went on for years!
I have always struggled with body dysmorphia, which is painful to say because as so many people know it is incredibly challenging to process and try to let go of. It has been a continual lesson and I will work on shifting this mindset for myself but most importantly my daughter! Healthy strong bodies look all sorts of ways…remember this, it is actual science!
Enter HRM, I was introduced by my best friend. I had an extensive back ground of fitness training and was currently training with kettlebells and loving it but decided I would take her word for it and join in. She couldn’t stop telling me how incredible the community was. Prep week of Autumn 2017 hooked me, I became a lifer instantly.
I find myself now working on wellness, the whole spectrum. Not just loosing weight or getting PB’s (even those are super rad!) HRM continues to inspire me to work towards, every.single.day. my best version of me! This mindset has waterfalled down to my kids, my husband, my friendships and the way I show up in this world. Healthy Role Models and all we stand for is truly incredible. You want in on this! I enjoy fueling my body with tons of nutrient dense foods, I wake up to get my sweat on in the wee hours of the morning AND I take rest days. Go figure?! We can do it all and feel amazing. I feel the most balanced I have ever felt in my life and its not to do with how I look. It is to do with how I SHOW UP! The side effects of a strong body are a bonus!
Being a part of a diverse, eclectic, wide range of all types of women is like nothing you will ever experience! The workouts are sweaty (made for everyone) the nutritional component is well thought out, sustainable and really a sense of wellness (no restrictions here!) and the COMMUNITY is something we all need, more than you know.
I will be here, cheering you on, sweating along side you and living my best life through all the ups and downs inspired by you.
So much LOVE to you
Dawn Meek ~ Brandon, MB
Welcome to the greatest community of support, friendships, and inspiration! I am honoured to be an Ambassador with so many beautiful, powerhouse role models!
I am a proud member of the #Brandoncrew and #MBcrew. I am a wife, mom of 2, friend, sister, daughter, all of the things! After 21 years as a hairstylist, I am in the process of finding a new dream. Actually, I am on the hunt for a job that helps me to find JOY.
I have literally “been there and done that”. Throughout majority of my adult life I had gained and lost weight trying every fad diet, every new gimmick for a quick fix. I was totally unhealthy both mentally and physically. It was a vicious cycle for me.
In 2015, my mom passed away and I hit an all time low. I was so unhealthy and unhappy, it was affecting a lot of my relationships and my day to day life.
In 2016, a good friend introduced me to Healthy Role Models. I instantly loved the girl power mentality, but I was hesitant to jump in with both feet. The whole “women are petty” was lingering in the back of my head. Never have I ever been more wrong! These woman constantly encourage, inspire and help shape the direction your path is going on, ultimately it’s up to you, but these beautiful souls are there to help you when you fall, and cheer you on no matter what! The sisterhood bond is stronger than ever!
It wasn’t until this past year, when Covid started taking over the world, and I had the time to really zero in on what was working for me and what needed to change. I went from thinking this was just a 3 month journey each Spring and Fall, to realizing that this truly does become a lifestyle. I think 24/7 about making the next choice a better one, pushing myself a bit harder each workout, and how every single HRM I have met along the way, is now my friend.
I cannot wait to share this journey with you all, whether you’re a newbie or a veteran, we are stronger together

Hello beautiful, welcome here
I am so honoured to be one of your HRM ambassadors for the 2021 Autumn journey.
This will be my 13th consecutive journey, second time as an ambassador. I signed up with HRM in the fall of 2015 and have enjoyed many learning moments over the years.
When I first joined HRM, I was nervous about joining an online fitness program. But the HRM program is full of so many great resources to have a healthy lifestyle. I have learnt that action creates motivation, quality is more important than quantity, and how to rest to recharge. I have become more confident in myself when I do go to the gym to workout. I am able to self motivate myself and I have learnt tools on how to get myself out of funks. Each person will have their own journey and I am learning what works for me. I love that this community cheers on all our own individualities.
I am looking forward to being able to support you in my role as an ambassador. Please reach out to me as often as you like to let me know how I can best support you. I currently do most off all my working out in my bedroom, so if I can do it in a small space, you can find a way to make it happen too!
Lets Do this!!
Chris Seida ~ St. Albert, AB
Welcome to the Autumn 2021 Journey! I’m so honoured to be an ambassador for this journey and am so excited that you’ve chosen to join this amazing community of women. They really are amazing!
My name is Chris Seida, I am 42 and live in St. Albert with my husband of 19 years and 3 teenage girls. That’s right, all girls! They are 13, 15 & almost 17 and keep us very busy with sports & activities.
This will be my 8th journey with HRM and I can’t wait! I have been a very athletic person all my life. I played a lot of volleyball and enjoyed lots of different activities like skiing and slow pitch. Then life with 3 kids got busy and the things I was interested in started to fall away and my role as a mom was the only thing left.
I suddenly found myself approaching my 40’s at the heaviest and most out of shape I had ever been. I had back trouble, plantar fasciitis and no desire to do anything active. That just wasn’t me. I wanted to be active with my kids and have fun together as a family. I realized I needed to start making some changes.
A friend of mine introduced me to Healthy Role Models. I watched her do a few journeys and I wasn’t interested yet but suddenly, Spring 2018 I was ready and I wanted in! I signed up and jumped ALL in!
I was expecting a fitness program to help me lose weight. What I found was so much better. HRM is so much more than just a fitness program. It is a community of women supporting women, walking alongside each other, inspiring and encouraging each other.
This program has not only helped me become stronger and healthier physically, it has helped me become more confident and find myself again. I am a better mom for it and better role model for my girls.
When I started my first journey there were absolutely no photos of me in my phone or recent ones in the house to use for my introduction. I always hid BEHIND the camera. Taking those first few selfies was hard but I had committed to being all in, so I did! Now my phone is full of selfies and my girls tease me about it!
I have met so many amazing women over my 7 HRM journeys and have done lots of activities with them like stairs, mountain biking, hiking in the mountains, surf yoga, the list goes on. I’ve also had the courage to try new things on my own like Stand Up Paddle boarding, kayaking, goat yoga, & zip lining.
I am so excited for this Autumn Journey! It is time for fresh starts, new beginnings and being active together! I can’t wait to do this journey alongside you and support and encourage you Meeting new and returning HRMs is one of my favourite things and I can’t wait! I love answering questions so please reach out if you need to.
I’m so glad you’re here. You are worth it and you CAN do this! We’ve got this ladies!

Hello beauties and welcome to Autumn Journey 2021! I am so honoured and excited to be joining the Ambassador team for a second time this journey. Welcome to this incredible community, we’re so glad you’re joining us!
This is journey number 9 for me, and Autumn journeys offer exactly what I am looking for when summer ends and it’s back to schedules and timetables. This community is the key for me to put my movement and mental health in the schedule along with those of my family. Getting outside is one of our favourite ways to get moving. I’m married to my husband Alan and together we have two daughters. Lucy is 6 and Maggie is 3. We live just outside of Winnipeg in a cozy small town which we love. Weekly walks up town for the mail and groceries helps break up the week with fresh air and some extra steps. During the day I’m an Insurance Broker and in the evenings, I spend my time in the studio teaching dance. I love the challenge that comes with both professions but being able to share my passion for dance with my students is my bucket filler.
I found Healthy Role Models in the way that I strive to share this community. I was a ripple. Two incredible women in my life started talking about running stairs and skipping rope while waiting for their kids to be done their activities. Watching these women make room in their life for movement was the kick in the butt I needed to remember that I can do that to. I was a new mom, heading back to work and trying to balance all the things that comes with that. So, I started tagging along. I ran the stairs. And that’s all it took for me to find the value in the pride that comes from doing something for yourself and your health. I was hooked on that feeling and this incredible community.
You’ll see me and my #girlsquad on the page often. They are my why. They certainly don’t do every exercise but they’re right there watching me as I do. I want to be strong for them as their mother, as a fellow woman and as a friend. They see me take on the physical challenge of the workouts and I want that to translate for them into their approach for handling what life will through their way. We can’t always be ready for everything, but we certainly can be strong to take it on.
Making room for this journey in your life may seem daunting. I know for me in the beginning it certainly did. All the things to learn and take in. You’ll hear lots of talk of the big O and that’s overwhelm. The feeling you get when uncertainty starts to push your why out of the way. If I can share any advice, it would be to go with the flow and trust your gut. Don’t be afraid to try something different. Chanel the fear of the unknown into some grit and dig deep for that sweat. Reach out to me and this community. We’ll help you every step of the way. Goals come and go but we can always fuel the fire we need to live a healthy lifestyle. Let’s do this!
Cherie-Anne ~ Cowichan Valley, BC
Welcome to the Healthy Role Models Family! I’m so happy you are joining us this Fall! You should be so proud of yourself for choosing to prioritize your health and well-being! I know I am.
My name is Cherie-Anne (Call me Cher, Cherie…anything but late for supper). I am 36 year old; am married and am a Mama to a mini pinscher cross named Adelle. We live in the Cowichan Valley and love where we live. We are an active family and enjoy being outdoors! Nothing beats the island life!
I was first introduced to HRM by a fellow co-worker and HRM sister. She spoke so highly of the Healthy Role Model community and shared how HRM helped her overcome anxiety! It was her energy and vibrancy at work that had me thinking “I need and want that!”
I joined HRM in the Fall of 2019 and here I am, now, beginning my 5th Journey, and my FIRST journey as an Ambassador! I AM SO EXCITED to be on this journey with you.
Before HRM, I have always lead a active lifestyle. I played sports throughout school. My favourite subjects were Biology and Physical Education. I was the nerdy jock. I went on to complete a degree in Human Kinetics and worked as a personal trainer and kinesiologist. Since I didn’t play varsity sports, I picked up running and weight training. I trained and competed in a handful of figure and bikini competitions.
When I first joined HRM, I’ll admit, it was the 12 week fitness program that appealed to me. I was looking for work-life balance, but really wanting to get into better shape. I guess, you know what I’m going to say next?! Healthy Role Models is so much more than the fitness plan!!! I am the strongest( both physically and mentally), happiest, confident and connected I have ever been!
We all have things, challenges or stories that hold us back, and keep us from living our best life, but believe me when I say that you can have all this too! My only advice for you as you begin your journey is-Trust the process!
I am so incredibly excited and honoured to be alongside you and cheering you on over the next 12-weeks (and possibly longer)…cause #HRMforLife.
Angie Boyko ~ Fort Saskatchewan, AB
My name is Angie Boyko, I live in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta with my other 1/2 and our two incredible kids. I grew up in Edmonton and was never a girl who loved sports. I liked individual challenges like track and field but I hated team sports with a passion. Reflecting back on that statement has made me realize that I truly do love to “run my own race” which is exactly what I have found in HRM, not surprising as it’s one of their philosophies. This group of ladies is incredible, encouraging and everyone is working at different levels of experience but what we all have in common is we are all working towards goals together. This incredible community that I stumbled upon last year Has made me grateful for all it has given me. When I say “I stumbled” I truly mean was encouraged by a couple friends who knew I could before I knew it myself. Who helped me push out of my comfort zones and helped me see it was worth a try. So believe me when I say it is mind blowing that within a year I have grown to the point I feel I belong in the role of being a role model to this community. It truly is life changing
Yes it has only been 1 year and this is only my 3rd journey but I have never felt more at home with a group of ladies then I have here. Originally when I joined I doubted my ability but within the 1st few weeks of my journey I started to find the “Me” who knew she could and who really wanted to do this. As the days past my heart smiled more and more each day, my confidence grew and my self worth skyrocketed. I’ve met so many incredible women who I haven’t met in person but have become friends for life with and are sources of support when needed! The “you got this”, “I know you can” and “I'm right here with you” are sometimes exactly what you need to get through and smile. Through HRM I have found a ME I love and I’m so able to maintain that with a healthy work/life/home/me balance. It is so achievable once you get there, you just have to start by trying.
My days are filled with helping other people's bodies feel better so it was about time for me to step up and help my body. I’ve been a registered Massage Therapist for the past 20+ years and I love what I do. So much so I can’t even imagine doing anything else. So my days are filled with figuring out how the body works, my evenings/weekends are spent taking care of my family and me. I am super blessed to be part of this amazing community and I know you will be too.
Can’t wait to see you all on the page, cheer you on and watch you all grow alongside me. It’s going to be Heart smiling for all of us.

If you are reading this and there's still time to sign up for the Autumn 2021 Journey, don't delay! If you have already commited to the journey and yourself, congrats! You are already making steps in the right direction and will soon find out why this is a great space to be!
My name is Amanda Falls-funny story about my name is that in my younger years I had a bad accident on my 101st skydive when I failed to get my reserve parachute fully opened- yep, I'm now Mrs. Falls! I work part time as an MRI tech in Edmonton with a great crew and love when I can get some movement into my day during my lunch break! I am married to my amazing hubby for 11 years and we have three great kids ages 10, 8 and 4.
I am thrilled to be an ambassador for the first time this journey, my 8th time here! I found HRM after my third child was born and I was struggling with losing baby weight- again. Living in a rural area, it didn't make sense to drive to town for a workout when I could do it at home. With 3 kids, I didn't have the time anymore or childcare. I found myself struggling to stay motivated and also unsure of what to do in my home gym. HRM has provided me with plenty of motivation, support and guidance in more areas than I first thought I needed. The connection and accountability in the group keeps me going and coming back time and time again. I look forward to cheering you all on your journey and encourage you to take the photos and measurements, even if just for you.
Start where you are at and work with what you've got. Focus on the things you CAN do, find modifications if needed, and JUST KEEP MOVING!
Let's have some FUN!
Sandee Cabigting ~ Winnipeg, MB
Hello Gorgeous Sisters!
So happy you’ve decided to make your health and wellness a priority this fall. Autumn 2021 will mark my fifth journey with Healthy Role Models and FIRST as an ambassador. I am extremely excited and honoured to be a part of this group.
Let’s see...I am an only child, a wife to a very supportive husband and a mom to two wonderful kids (ages 11 and 8). I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba where my parents migrated to when I was six years old from the Philippines. Both my husband and I have large extended families so parties and get-togethers (when allowed) are always so fun. I work full-time as a structural engineer for a local consulting firm and absolutely love what I do! During my free time I like to practice calligraphy, play golf, spend time with family and friends and do spin classes. As a family, we try to enjoy the outdoors as much as we can and also love trying new things!
My HRM journey started in Fall 2019. I connected with a friend (after spin class of course!) who always had good things to say about the program and I was also looking to lose weight. So I decided to try it out! Little did I know that not only would I care less about losing weight but that I would actually learn more lessons in life that I ever imagined. I learned that there really are women out there who are like- minded and will truly support you and cheer you on or be there for you even when you didn’t know you needed it. I learned that it was never about lifting the heaviest or crushing every single workout but it was about staying consistent no matter your pace. I learned to use pride as my metric and strive to be 1% better today than I was yesterday. I do think these are some of the reasons why ladies continue to keep coming back. It’s a great place to be and so glad you are here!
So take it all in; immerse yourself in this uplifting community that can give you so much love if you let it. Enjoy all the workouts, zoom events, in person meet-ups and have so much fun. This is your journey and we are all here for it every step of your way. I cannot wait to cheer you on this Fall.
You’ve got this! Sandee
