Ashley Nichols ~ Spruce Grove, AB
Hi, I’m Ashley, and I am so excited to be a first time ambassador for the Autumn Journey! HRM has been a part of my life since Autumn 2014. This is my 9th or 10th journey.
Since 2014 I have had lots of ups and downs with my health. I had 2 babies since then, both via c-section, and really struggled with accepting my “new” body after pregnancy. But my 2 beautiful daughters, Carys (5) and Luca (3) are my WHY, and for them I want to be a strong, healthy example. For me this means not only honouring your body and taking care of it, but also loving your body - with all it’s lumps, bumps and scars - because it tells your story!
HRM really shifted my perspective on what I can accomplish. Before I was intimidated, and shy - scared to share with the community for fear of judgment, and fear of failing. I was scared to try new things because I thought I “wasn’t made to do” certain exercises or activities. I have learned just how supportive this community is, and sharing yourself and your accomplishments really is the magic behind HRM.
I can now confidently say I love my body and what it does. I love trying new crazy exercises, and don’t set artificial limits on what I can accomplish. I don’t second guess wearing a bathing suit, putting on shorts, or posting on the page. The confidence I have developed through this program is really what has changed my life.
Other random facts about me - I have been married for 4 years to my hubby Jeff. I work part time as a HR Advisor at a credit union, but in the past I have also been a paramedic and a yoga teacher. Things that I love are veggie gardening, house plants, painting, embroidery, hiking, camping and yoga!
I have some big goals for Autumn 2020, and am so excited for this journey to get started so I can start to hear what everyone else’s goals are. Thank you for having me as one of your ambassadors. It is truly an honour to be able to support such an incredible community of women on their journeys to being their best selves!
